Try to be at top of the hill before 7am, the view is perfect but windy and cold!

2nd hike to the peak. Great trail. Weather is great, cool all the way up to the peak. Compare to Bukit Kutu, i fine Bukit Datuk is more enjoyable. The trail is more forgiving compare to Bukit Kutu. Keep hydrated.

Tough climb, need to cross rocky path and climb a few boulders. You just keep climbing and ascending with one break point at a clearing then keep climbing at an inclination.Very challenging.Descend took slightly longer as had to be careful with knee and ankles.Decided to slide down most boulders and rocks. Not suitable for those with ankle and knee problems,be extra careful on descend.

It's a good hike, tough one with steep climb among those rocks and tree roots, and it gets harder when it rain - slippery. It's a one way in and out trail, hard to get lost. Suggest you bring lots of water to hydrate, shoes for grips, hiking sticks and gloves.

1st time going up this hill. went up at 5.00 am. the trail is very steep with plenty of rock for the first quarter of the trail. plenty of root too to help you grab and set foothold. it was very challenging for those without training. half way through the trail is friendlier. don't be mistaken, it's still steep but forgiving. by the time we reached the peak it was already full of people. some even started to climb at 3 am. it's a bit crowded at the top of the rock. the space is small. the view is fantastic though. can't see sunrise cause it's block by another hill. the journey down require some knee management. it can be very hard on your knee. overall the journey was worth it. will climb again soon. highly recommended.

Rocky on the first stage (around 2km) until the resting point. Steep on the 2nd stage until the peak of Gunung Datuk. Please bring lots of water to stay hydrated during this hot season.

Tough for a beginner. A lot of steep inclines with old ropes left unmaintained. Tough on the knees on the descent. But fun, I’d do it again. Just be sure to arrange transport back to accoms as it’s pretty deserted.
