This a great location for a hike around "God's Garden" at any time of the year. The fall is particularly beautiful with the changing colors of leaves. The reserve is located in the Gauja River Valley and includes the magnificent red brick Turaida Castle, which dates back to 1214. This area is the largest protected cultural monument in the country. This hike has some fun ups and downs through hills and forest with smashing views of the castle, river, a tiny cave, and sculptures. Before or after the hike, go visit the castle and climb the tower for some breathtaking views of the valley.
