Great Kemeri Bog Boardwalk is a 3.1 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Slampe, Semigallia, Latvia that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, trail running, and nature trips and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
One of the most popular swamp trails in Latvia that offers a fabulous walk through one of the greatest raised bogs. Visitors may notice the carnivorous plant of sundew, and a variety of birds – wood sandpipers, white wagtails, tree pipits. The bog has been designated as internationally important Bird Area. The key feature distinguishing the Great Kemeri Bog and other raised bogs in Kemeri surroundings and making them unique on European level is the sulphurous mineral waters, which are forming deep underneath the surface of the bog and bursting out on the surface in more than 30 open springs in the vicinity of Kemeri. The boardwalk has 2 loops – a small one and a long one. The overall hiking time is around 1.5 hours. Available whole year through, though the most beautiful scenery in the bog is in spring and autumn, and especially, in early morning watching the sunrise.

November 28, 2020Great trail. A few places to sit down and enjoy the scenery. Boardwalk, so can be a little bit slippery when it rains.
September 27, 2020March 28, 2020Great spot! We definitely were over dressed hiking wise, it’s a very nice trail and you could do it in sneakers. There’s a coffee guy before the trail which is nice! Our kids loved it!

February 10, 2019Beautiful hike on the bog walk. Given the season, the trail and the boardwalk were snowy and icy in many places. We took our time and enjoyed taking it all in, especially from the watch tower.
