Kubalu school – museum is the oldest log type building school in Latvia (19th century) preserved until nowadays. Here one can learn of the textbooks used at country schools in the past, class arrangement and class objects. One of the expositions tells about some of the most famous schoolchidren attending this school: Krišjānis Barons (folklorist, writers), Fricis Dravnieks (teacher, writer). Ernests Dinsbers, one of the first Latvian culture workers, had lived and worked at the school as a teacher since it’s establishment – for 40 years. The renovated household building gives an insight into the history of schoolyard and collection of the museum’s ethnographical objects. Three walking trails around the school have been formed to mark the usage of school land during the manor period and enjoy the school surroundings.
