Nice trail. We hiked it on a mostly clear January afternoon. We started at the Shonan Village center trail. Trail is asphalt down hill passing by a golf course. At the bottom of the paved path is a steep switchback-like staircase straight up to the top. Nice views of Fuji and the ocean below. There is also a nice observation platform at the top too. Not too crowded either. I bet it is really pretty in the spring.

Nice trail. We did the trail that starts from the shonan village center on a mostly clear January afternoon. Nice large gravel parking lot. Hike starts out on asphalt road. Paved 1/2 way downhill to a steep stairway al the way up. Stairs appear well kept. Nice observatory at the top. Nice view of Fuji and sunset.

Maedabashi trail and Shonan village trail part of the Mount Ogusu hiking course. Lots of bugs and a bit overgrown in parts. Shonan village trail has parking at trail head. Kinugasa Trail will be closed for approx. 2 more years due to construction of a waste processing facility.

Not much to choose from in the Yokosuka area (at least not according to AllTrails) but nevertheless this was such an enjoyable day hike. Bring water as there are no water sources along the trail. The toilets at the entrance are the only ones so do not pass up the opportunity. Take the trail to the top of the mountain. Breathtaking views of the entire area and a perfect view of Mt Fuji and Tokyo. I highly recommend this to anyone. -Biscuit
