Beautiful views towards both the sea and the Apuan Appenines. We went anti-clockwise which I think is slightly easier for the ascent and descent, as the final ascent is very steep and would be trickier going down. There is no real exposure on the way up we went - you are on a ridge for a few short periods but it’s not sheer vertical. On the way down there is one section of maybe 20-30m of mild-moderate exposure. I have mild to moderate vertigo and was fine. There is some light scrambling going up and the footing for most of the hike is quite rocky.

WARNING: the hike trail as shown in the map is NOT medium. Hiking up to the summit includes a lot of scrambling with sometimes loose rock and medium to high levels of exposure. There are routes that do not involve the summit which are much easier. I did the hike anti-clock wise, it was easy until the path diverged(one returned to the original starting place and one went to the summit). Shortly after taking the summit route, it led me to a ridge with lots of scrambling up to the summit and a steep cliff behind. Beautiful views from the top, luckily the rest of the hike was much easier after the summit. Great hike overall but rating needs to be changed.

If you're looking for a hike where you can get to know the beauty of the Apuan Alps in Tuscany, and also get a great hike in with tons of awe inspiring view points of Tuscany, this is your hike! Its great for older families, or kids under 8 that are used to hiking. Very do-able!

Beautiful views! Slightly challenging uphill but if you are moderately in shape you should be fine. Well-marked and if you dont want to do the whole 4 miles there is a marked trail half way that will take you back down to your car and the cute and strange little bar/restaurant where a cold beer was appreciated! This is what we did and it took us 2 hours. If doing the whole loop around altissimo I think it would be 4 hours but I stop and take a lot of pictures. The ride up in our car to get to the trail was exciting (gps was exact) and beautiful as well- mountains and small towns with views that extend to the sea.

Very nice trail, with a beautiful view. We did it in about 2 hrs. There is a local restaurant at the bottom of the trail, where you can have lunch afterwards.
