One of the best hiking routes in Montalcino is the loop of Abbey of Sant'Antimo (Anello di Sant’Antimo), a circular walk in the great scenery of shaded woodland and the Brunello vineyards surrounding Castelnuovo dell'Abate. Walk along dirt roads, through vineyards and woodlands, and to the small church in Villa a Tolli, then back to the Abbey of Sant’Antimo.  You are in the midst of some great wineries: the area of Castelnuovo dell’Abate comprises some of Brunello’s leading estates such as Poggio di Sotto, Ciacci Piccolomini (Località Molinello) and Uccelliera Di Cortonesi Andrea (45 Localita' Pod. Uccelliera).
