The Acquacheta Waterfalls are located in the National Park of the Casentino Forests, Monte Falterona and Campigna and are exactly on the border between Tuscany and Emilia Romagna. They can be reached from both sides. Surely the shortest and simplest route is the one that starts in Romagna and precisely from the town of San Benedetto in Alpe (485m asl). From the town, return to the main road and after crossing the bridge over the Fosso Acqua Cheta, the path that runs along the stream begins. The path was once marked by the CAI (407) with white / red signs, still present even if very discolored; the path then becomes very evident and rises between layers of sandstone and plants along the Acquacheta stream. The route is signposted as "Nature Trail" and includes ten rest and observation points. Continuing the journey, you will arrive at Ca 'del Rospo, an ancient building for agricultural tools. The path now climbs sharply into the woods, interspersed with grassy terraces to reach the ancient Mulino dei Romiti, recently restored by the Park Authority and now used as a stopping point and picnic. The path continues to climb halfway up to reach 678m asl where you can admire the splendid Acquacheta Waterfall, about 30 m wide and about 90 m high. Going down the path you come to a ford next to a small waterfall. After crossing the stream, continue to climb for a few minutes until you reach the grassy plateau of the Romiti (720m asl) where there are the ruins of the Hermitage founded by the Monks of the Abbey of San Benedetto.
