This is a very easy hike through the largest, high alpine meadow in all of Europe. The Alpe di Siusi (Italian) or Seiser Alm (German), has many trails to walk on. Situated in northern Italy’s South Tyrol area, it has views that are incredible. And everything in this area is still signed in both Italian and German. It is a very popular skiing destination in the winter also. A nice easy day spent with endless views.

Easy trail, rocky and muddy in some places but overall a great hike with awesome views. Travelled from Bolzano to Compatsch. Suggest taking the 170 bus from Bolzano to Siusi and then hopping on the cable car to Compatsch, rather than riding all the way to the starting point t via bus. Cable car was €18 round trip worth it.

Amazing trail! Gorgeous views! Pretty easy track. Can be done with kids and dogs. There is a parking and many restaurants on the start/end.

We made our way from the town we stayed in to Castelrotto, and then just beyond to Siusi, where we took the gondola up to Compatsch. Once off the gondola, you can walk pretty much anywhere. We were going to originally try for the top of Sciliar, but that didn’t pan out this time. So we did this simple loop to get a feel for the meadow. So many options to choose from, I would love to come back here some day and do more of the trails. If ever in this part of Northern Italy, I highly recommend this as a nice easy day spent with endless views.
