Lightly crowded trail. The altitude profile for this takes the counter clockwise direction for the loop to the top. The very steep part near the summit is in a cow pasture on an uneven game trail, but it is quite manageable going up- coming down would have been challenging, so I recommend going counterclockwise. This trail does not actually go to the peak, but it is easy to figure out the path up- adds only 10 minutes and ~150 vertical feet. I would also suggest taking the side trail near the parking lot- this eliminates a brief walk on the road and takes you to the top of an abandoned ski hill. Negatives: the first half of the trail and the western side of the loop are active farm trails, so there are a decent amount of tractors and trucks that take up the whole road, causing hikers to walk off the trail. There were a lot of flies due to the livestock on and around the trail. They didn’t bite too much, but were bothersome. Positives: great summit views of the alps and lake Como. It was hazy when I went but not too bad. Open trail, so decent breeze and cooler towards the summit. Horses and cows grazing throughout the trail.
