The Linea Gustave (or "Gustav Line" or "Winter Line") was a defensive line set by Hitler and German forces in Italy during the Second World War. It is made up of paved and dirt roads, plus smaller pathways. Please note: it is recommended this first stage is started first thing in the morning and is not recommended for solo or inexperienced trekkers. Please do not attempt to cross the beech woods at night and skip this stage if the weather is poor.
