Mt. Ramon is the highest in the Negev, with its glorious peak at 1037mts above sea level. The air here is almost always pleasant, and rarely it even snows. The mountain is located right at the edge of the crater, looking deep into its entrails and far over its surroundings. Mt. Ramon is extraordinary, a fact that came into the locals´ attention many thousands of years ago. This is why you´ll come across archaeological findings and remains related to ceremony and belief rather than to day-to-day life. One example is the mysterious K-line. The K-line is actually a low stone wall that stretches for kilometres and while its not really clear what it served for, it is established that it has something to do with the worshipping of the ancient sun god. The mountain is reachable by road and there´s a little parking place at its feet. Leave your car here and pick any of the lovely paths that are heading in all directions. The classic choice is the circular path that takes you right to the edge of the crater and leads you along the precipice. Even though this path has no shade, it is high enough and short enough to be inviting throughout the year. Don´t forget to wear your hat and to bring water.
