Zeharya Single is a 8.8 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Zekharya, Jerusalem, Israel that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, nature trips, and mountain biking and is accessible year-round.
Yishai Ar, in which the Zechariah Single (סינגל זכריה) passes, is a man planted forest that covers roughly 6,500 dunams (acres). The forest was planted by Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael - Jewish National Fund foresters in the 1950s and in it you can find pine, cypress, willow, carob and orchard trees. On this trail, especially in the forest areas there are many antiquities sites from ancient times, and from parts of the trail itself one can see the lime pits and the remains of the ancient village.
Israel’s weather in early April is often perfect for walking, and it was on this occasion. The wildflowers were incredible across much of the walk, with some of the most beautiful meadows, woodland and hills I’ve ever seen. The path gets quite rocky in the final third so wear decent footwear. We walked it in just over four hours at a moderate pace. The scenery was varied and I would gladly walk this route again.
