Caught in the rain, not much shelter, route down is a bit dodgy. Would be nice in sunny weather

Nice forest walk and the hike to up to the peak is fairly tough but manageable for most fitness levels. There are stone paths for the majority of the journey that make it very accessible.

Nice hike over forest paths then onto slightly rockier paths. Easy hike up to the top. Beautiful views every way. Dog friendly. Great on a clear day.

Great hike. As we had a clear sunny day, the views from Maulin were fantastic encompassing Dublin Bay, Howth and beyond, Dalkey, Bray, Greystones, the Sugar Loaf and Djouce. The way down was a little slippery until we reached the stile into the woods and walking poles would be beneficial for anyone with dodgy knees.

This hike is stunning and super enjoyable. Would advise doing it clockwise for perfect views of the powerscourt waterfall. Bring a warm layer for the windy summit. :) my shin tzu loved it!

Great "family friendly" trail. I scaled the mountain with my 5yo daughter with no problems. The route is fairly obvious and I would recommend to ascent along the Powerscourt Waterfall. Scenic views are a nice reward for the effort made.

Mostly trail with great views of Powerscourt Waterfall and then a moderate off trail hike to the summit of Maulin (580m) with more great views. Moderate is a fair assessment.

Très belle randonnée , facile à suivre avec deux ado. Petite route de gravier, sentier bien défini, superbe vue au sommet et en plus une délicieuse odeur de fraises mûries au soleil nous a suivi toute la randonnée!

Fantastic views and challenging enough, gets the heart rate up. we did it 1.5hr but trucked on very hard. Bringing clients up, Sunday for our Revive Renew Hike. Perfect for different fitness levels. Recommeded for the view of Powerscourt Garden alone.

Excellent trail with stunning views. the loop does not take you to Maulin head but so worth it. Steep but short ish climb. Continued walking over to meet the Wicklow way track and to the Dargle river. such stunning views. would do again..

Lovely trail with diverse views of landscapes including Powers Court Waterfall, the Sugarloaf and some other hills and valleys. Clockwise is easier. Counter clockwise for those who want to work up a sweat.

3hr walk with kids. Mountain side overlooking a ‘bowl’ style valley containing one of the country’s most popular attractions. While Crone overlooks this vista, the forest insulates the walker - offering tantalizing glimpses through forest cuts - until the view is revealed spectacularly after about 25 mins. Mixed deciduous and evergreen forest, generally mossy with pine needle covered undergrowth. The climb continues to a zig-zag mountain walk as forest drops away. Cutting across beneath the summit of Maulin along the top edge of Crone forest, there is protection from any possible colder weather and wind for the return to the car park through the forest. The zig-zag return can be shortened by following the more direct and rugged downhill paths that cut straight through the forest. While an exertion at some parts, young family members were more than capable. Coillte forest roadways are in good condition. Arguably (although not necessarily advised as it’s a couple of hours uphill) passable by large wheeled buggy with only a handful of points where it would need to be briefly carried across obstacles (on a revisit, realized 25 min duration climb to highest point of walk is very steep and quite rocky so not suitable for buggy really). Will break sweat during uphill of first half of the walk. Plenty of attractive points to stop and take a break. Recommended as a longer family walk (over 7 km). https://www.coillte.ie/site/crone-woods/

Great walk for the family. My kids are 8,10 and 12 and they all enjoyed it. I think clockwise is the best way to do it. Although the descent is steep. We loved it. The dog also loved it.
