This hike starts at the Bay Lough Car Park in The Vee on the Waterford-Tipperary border. Follow the county boundary wall initially east and then north east up the steep slopes of Sugarloaf Hill to the carn marking the summit. From here, its a south-east bearing following the well worn path with an initial descent and then the long gradual ascent up towards the trip pillar of Knockmealown. Return via the same way!

Steep climb. No switchbacks here. Just go up. Very rocky or muddy between rocks. May be a more circuitous route south to the saddle between peaks. Great views!! We even had a rainbow.
