This crowded trail is one of the most popular in Ireland for a reason. The views are breathtaking and Torc Waterfall is beautiful. While the beginning of the hike can get crowded, the trails beyond the waterfall generally have less people.

There’s quite a climb to the top of the waterfall but it’s downhill after that. Very enjoyable wooded trail

Really nice walk. Moderate due to some elevation, but the surface is really good and the scenery is excellent!

Definitely get in early- heavily trafficked to falls then tourists thin out after. Beautiful area.

Hiking

Easy/moderate and Relatively quick. Nice variety of terrain and views. Tourists thin out after 500 meters by the Torc falls then you have the trail to yourself. I was without a car so took the red bus in from Killarney for €6 then walked back. Way cheaper then a taxi.

Very easy to cycle form Killarney into the national park! Absolutely beautiful. Got there just as the park opened at 8, so it was not as crowded.

Most of the trail from the main area of the park to the waterfall was insanely crowded by midday--do yourself a favor and get there early. It was a nice hike and there were some very beautiful views. Very wide and well-cared-for trails.

We had a nice hike here. There is a car park at the “Y” of the loop. Lots of tourists making the walk up to the base of the falls. It opens up after that. Steep uphill. A few fun spur trails off the path. Hike goes to top of falls. Raining heavy, but can’t help that.

My wife and 16 year old son did this blue trail which after the waterfall was Poorly marked but you can add on to this 50 minute hike by walking to the castle and back to the parking area. A bit Streep after the waterfall but nice canopy .

Pedestrian at first but the loop is like an enchanted forest and good waterfall - wish the forest part was longer but a really cool hike!

There was a decent climb but it wasn't terrible. There were too many people for my enjoyment however the falls were beautiful. I loved the stone stairs leading up past the falls.

Nice walk, waterfall is lovely, after that gets a bit steeper. We took the red trail so lot of incline and loose rock. Bring plenty of water!

The start of the walk is very busy as far as the visual waterfall during busy periods and weekends with loads of tourists and horse and carts. Dogs are very welcomed once they can behave with horses. Nice little climb up hill with lovely natural shading and he distant sound of the waterfall!!

If one starts out at Muckross castle and go through the gardens on the way, it smells wonderful this time of year! Pram friendly until you come to the falls., then the loop goes up stairs that is on a steep incline. Great to do on an early Sunday morning!

This hike was incredible. The trails are confusing, so hopefully I can help a bit. The trail shown on the above map is if you walk from the town if Killarney. If you drive to the upper lot of the falls, you have a few options. Torc Mountain Waterfall has 3 main routes. Yellow (easy/shortest) Blue (moderate) Red (longest and most difficult) I did the red, which also includes part of the yellow and blue. Red is a 3 mile loop that took me about and hour and 20 minutes (with photo stops). It is a big downhill potion towards the lake, then you follow the lake for a bit, then you hit the locally named “Cardiac Steps”. It is about 1 mile of straight up, switchback, rock staircase. I am from Colorado, USA and these are steep. Many steps were at knee height. After that you follow the ridge back to the car lot. Incredible views (I could not have asked for a clearer day) shady most of the way, and absolutely breathtaking. One of the most beautiful hikes I’ve ever done. Unfortunately you cannot summit from here, you have to do the Torc Mountain trail for that, but you get plenty high!
