jaysus that was tough. the hike up and down is fine, although I did the full loop to stoompa and then back down. I crossed the lake then with slight difficulty. It is very very easy to go off track if you're not following the GPS. Great day for the parish all the same.

Very gradual climb the whole way up. A clear trail to follow and no scrambling over rocks/ boulders. It is very muddy and wet at the beginning so old/ hiking shoes recommended. As we reached the devils punchbowl there was snow surrounding us, making it a little trickier to see the path. Only climbed as far as the summit and came back the way we came approx 9km as the path had completed disappeared under the blanket of snow. Plenty of people had climbed up and down before us so we just followed their footprints.

The walk up was wonderful with a clear track. Once on the summit it becomes a little messy as no clear path. We had to climb down the second mountain and scramble through bog to eventually get to the car... would suggest doing it as an up/down hike only.

Hiking

don't do the full loop..only do the 9 km once you reach the top, you can come back from the same route..there is no marked route after stoompa peak which makes it hard to hike

Amazing place!! Better hike when you trained. Worth to go!!! Stunning views all the way. We had an amazing weather that day, +22 degrees, sunny spelling, it was great sit with kids near the Devils Punch Bowl lake, have great chat and have some picnic. As my expirience with hiking, I never feel hungry, I prefer drink water and I'm happy enough.. Hightly recommended! You going to enjoy it when weather is clear and dry, with no rain or fog. During fog it's easy to get lost and go off trail..
