Beautiful views, easy hike. We were glad to be wearing sturdy boots with the muddy second half. Took us an hour and a half but we did stop plenty for pictures. Luckily missed the rain!

Amazing views. Easy easy parking access (4euro for 2hr). Easy hike, should be an hr and a half or so, but bring a rain jacket. Definitely make time to get to the island via the fairy (very easy and quick) off the ring of Kerry and drive to the hiking spot. After the hike, drive about 10 minutes to the city of Portmagee (you’ll have great views of the city from a distance in the hike)

After you climb most of the hill and the gravel stops you have to walk down muddy grossness if it's rained recently. (it's Ireland, it most likely has). You get some good views facing north that way but if you don't like mud go back the way you came. Also, lots of scat.

first half the trail was a wide stony path. Once you start the descent it is just a grassy muddy trail. Walking boots are an absolute must if it has been rainy in the previous days. One thing to be careful of is the wind conditions. Be very mindful if it is windy about taking a child up. A couple of times today I was nearly blown off my feet and the path is fairly close to the cliff edge in places. Views are stunning. Even on a rainy day like today. Did it solo as family wanted to go to the chocolate factory but will do it with them later on in the holiday.

Did the Bray Head Loop from the pay & display car park (€2) clockwise via the signal tower, diverting a little off the trail to the unmarked grassy top. Stood on top of various peat hags vying for the HP. Then continued round the loop path down through pastures (beware cows) back to the car park. Good sea views of the Skelligs. Hiked on a cloudy day in strong westerly winds. Rain held off, though.
