The Upper Diamond Hill Trail summits the Diamond, providing a stunning view of the Twelve Bens and surrounding Connemara region. Situated in the West of Ireland in County Galway, Connemara National Park covers some 2,957 hectares of scenic mountains, expanses of bogs, heaths, grasslands and woodlands. Some of the Park's mountains are part of the famous Twelve Bens or Beanna Beola range. Diamond Hill is a very well-maintained path up a mountain with a spectacular view at the summit of the Twelve Bens and the surrounding Connemara region.

One of the best hikes I’ve had in a long time. Great Day! Perfectly maintained trails. We did the full gambit of yellow to blue to red and finished with the blue. Lots of nature on backside and the views are fantastic.

Well maintained trail. Good views in all directions. Misty at top.

Terrific hike with great views. We hit wind, rain, and heavy fog as we approached the summit - very glad we had waterproof jacket and pants and walking stick. Path a bit slippery but managed ok. Starts at the Connemara national park visitor center with parking. Long steady rise on gravel path (blue trail) followed by steep stone steps to the summit (red trail loop). Returned by same blue path as latter half of blue loop under repair.

Beautiful hike on a well maintained trail. Unfortunately we had to turn back 3/4ths of the way up due to incredibly high winds, I'd estimate around 60kph on a sunny and warm but blustery May day. Very disappointing as this was our only hike in Connemara, but we still got some good views for the portion we did.

Great hike! Definitely would not rank as “hard” more moderate if you are used to hiking and in shape. Took us 1.5 hours to do the trip. Well maintained trails that were pretty well trafficked.

Amazing hike in Galway. Weather can change quickly. Look out for slippery rocks, especially on the way down.

This hike was a lot better than expected. The trail is well marked and easy to follow with beautiful view points along the way. The weather can be unpredictable, however the rain and consequential Rainbows made it worth it.

Not very hard. The trail has stone steps. It gets very windy though. Better to go on a sunny day to enjoy the views.

hard to beat the scenery on top of the diamond mountain, a good training run, best to go early in the morning when its quiet.

Very Nice one. It is not so hard. When I was there, all age people were there. Amazing views. Just make sure you get a beautiful sunny day for this one.

A amazing walk that I have done a few times. Only to be done on a quiet day. When windy it can be dangerous to go to the top. Steep on some part but overall a definite walk to do in connemara. Can't wait for the next sunny day to go again.

What a windy walk! It’s steep and nearly all uphill. Step off the rail and sink. But the wind is the toughest part.

Took a bus from Galway to Letterfrack for the day and this trial did not disappoint. Beautiful views at the summit. Would rank it as moderate in terms of endurance relative to most mountains I’ve climbed, short and simple (no hands needed).

Excellent trail. Easy to find and the road to the park is beautiful. Enjoy every step of the way.

This hike is absolutely beautiful, but it was harder than I thought. It's not the length, but the hike does gain elevation fairly quickly, and you are walking up stone steps with water trickling down them and strong winds buffeting you from all sides. But the views at the top are absolutely worth the struggle. You get 360 degrees of amazing wild, Irish landscapes. You can even see the Atlantic Ocean! It took me about an hour to the top, with several stops, and half an hour to get down.

Awesome hike with great views of the country side and the ocean. Try to go on a clear day to get the full experience. We experienced "gale force winds" which certainly made the upper portion much more interesting (and a bit scary) but would do it again in a heartbeat. I may be biased since my husband proposed on this mountain, but the views were beautiful from every angle. Bring proper shoes for rocks and rain gear because the weather can change quickly!
