Hiking

Cool walk, not our favorite view wise but a nice one to do late evening + make sure you stick to the pedestrian route as we ended up on a bike track + it’s so dangerous

Hiking

Easy hike once you get past the steep hill at the start. Great views over Dublin. Part of the trail is on bike only ones so was a bit risky. Part of the trail was closed but we continued until we met workers and took a detour up to the fairy fort, rejoining remainder of trail later

WalkingGreat!

Busy place most of the time, great to see yellow lines ensuring ACCESS FOR EMERGENCY SERVICES I was shocked recently at lack of respect from some drivers who were parking on road and not in allocated parking spots... If it's full, move on is the norm! (Years ago I was fighting for my life after an accident and the emergency services couldn't get to me because of blocked roadway because of badly parked cars, I have now a phobia of badly parked cars!) Some trails in this forest are for cyclists only, and others are for pedestrians only, they are clearly marked, and there are info boards so get acquainted with what's what! Dogs are fine here too, but please keep them leashed, a cyclist doesn't want to have pooch suddenly appear on their trail, it will hurt both pooch and cyclist. And saying that, likewise children "exploring" a cycle trail will only lead to disaster.... On a quiet day, it is lovely up there, great views, but I would not use the loop that is proposed on this loop walk as it does use cycle only paths.... Instead there is a great loop walk marked using DMW and WW paths!

HikingRocky

Completed the Fairy castle trail with my 7 year old and 10 month old dog roughly 6 km up and down. Steep up hill for the first 2 km on road or so then onto rocks and trial path. very enjoyable and manageable lovely sights of Dublin down below.

Mountain biking

this map is for a mountain bike trail. outside the fire roads there is only one small (wide) stretch that accommodates both. As someone who enjoys hiking and biking I must say stay off the single track bike trails. Don't "watch out for bikes" just stay off. there are beautiful hikes here where you don't put yourself and others at risk.

Really enjoyable, lovely views over Dublin and not too difficult (we did the green route). Very windy/exposed at the top. Stoney trails.

love the walks up here but recently they have painted yellow lines everywhere making parking a bit of a nightmare, there's not many actual spaces, everyone used to park along the road and cant now. have driven around 3 times to get a space!
