Description
Waypoints (1)

Where the Duhallow Way enters the forest, north west of the village of Bweeng, proceed up the forest road and, at the next T junction, follow the way-marker to the right, uphill. Continue to follow the direction of the way-markers until you come to an area where the forest road widens, the way-marker points to a left turn at a barrier, and there is another forest barrier in front of you. You leave the way-marked path here and continue on straight through the barrier in front of you. You will see tall masts on Bweeng Duff on your right, visible through the trees. After approximately one tenth of a mile, a path to your right will take you up to the masts, from where you can admire breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. Return to where you left the track and turn right to descend gradually around the hill of Bweeng Little. At the metal gate, take the hard-right turn down a track, descending further until you meet the start of the tar road, with a house on your left and out-sheds on your right. Note the drain structures on the left where the water pipes are set into stone pillars. Keep right at the next junction and continue on to the crossroads known as 'Laharn Cross'. Turn right here and continue back to your car.

The best so far. Those views spectacular. you do need to go slightly away from the signposted trail after 2-3km but the instruction on the AllTrails app were perfect. The last 4km are on a quiet road but the first 7km have spectacular views. Loop was 11.09km

Went up with my husband and two dogs. There was no obvious signs not to bring them with and we kept them on leashes at all times. Only went to too and pack down as didn’t fancy walking along the road with the dogs. But the walk itself was very manageable (even I when I haven’t been hiking in 4 years) and we’d do it again!

Nice walking route in the forestry. Would not call it moderate, only easy - as it is not much climbing and it's mostly on the gravel road, no narrow rocky trails. So you can wear runners. Suggest not to follow the yellow markings for Duhallow Way, as that's what will get you lost. You can follow it only till the highest point, next to the towers, but then on the cross roads go straight through the barrier. From there just stay on the same road, do not turn anywhere. Last bit of walk goes on the main road with a lot of farmer houses, some of them have guard dogs that run out on the road barking at you. So we had to carry a stick to scare them away.

First to Review

First half of the walk was well described and the view was as good as promised. I'd return by the same route next time as the second part of the description wasn't good.
