Mount Merbabu is a volcano located in Central Java, near the city of Jogjakarta. Because of its close location, Merbabu is a perfect high ground to see the currently active Merapi Mountain. There are 2 common trails to the summit, to the north from Kopeng/Tekelan and to the south from Selo Village. It is recommended to rent a car with a driver from Jogjakarta to go to Selo and back.

Amazingly difficult trek to hike (Suwanting Vilage) but very rewarding on the way to summit.
Great view and clean air to breath

The trail was hard, but not as rocky as mount Gede so that's a plus. And the view is worth the journey.
