Great, easy little cliffside trail that runs along the sea. Start at Bárður Snæfellsás, the stone arch (and mythical protector of the peninsula). You’ll have Stapafell mountain and Snæfellsjökull glacier beyond that as a backdrop on your journey. Check out the basalt stacks, basalt caves, black sand beaches, sea arches, birds (kittiwakes, gull, fulmar and arctic tern), wildflowers and ferns along the way. We took the path all the way to Hellnar.

Nice, easy hike along the coast. As other reviewers mentioned, it starts out as boardwalk on the Hell at side and I think I recall it turning to pavement on the Arnarstapi side, but in the middle the path is a little more rocky since you’re going through a lava field. There are lots of cliffs and lovely views. There were quite a few hikers on this trail so don’t expect total isolation here. I had a lot of fun on this trail and would definitely recommend. If you don’t have time or energy for the full out and back walk, do it one-way and have a travel buddy drive.

Nice walk along the coast. Features various rock formations off shore as well as off shore. I would recommend doing it early or late in the day to avoid the crowds. Also be sure to check out the last part close Arnarstapi where the off shore arches are.

This is definitely more of an easy site with great photo opportunities and less a hike for exercise. But it is wonderful on a beautiful day. Extend it by walking further down the beach to the next village.

Beautiful hike along the coast with amazing views and milllions of birds. Starts very easy and flat with man made paths in Arnarstapi. It gets much more rocky and uneven near Hellnar. The restaurant in Hellnar has amazing cakes!!
