The point is to walk to the top and then walk along the river. There are many more waterfalls, rocks strewn across it and beautiful dramatic landscape. Didn’t walk to the end of the walk unfortunately - did one hour one way, incl the stairs. Regret not going all the way!

Fabulous waterfall views. I wish we had time to walk even further. Muddy so wear proper shoes

The walk to the falls is really easy. Just be sure to wear waterproof gear cause the wind brings the mist pretty far up. The climb up the stairs was really strenuous. It’s 438 stairs basically straight up. The view is ok but you really only see the river going over the cliff and not too much of the actual falls. In my opinion the best views are from below.

Great views of waterfalls and canyons. Highly recommend this trail. My dad and I did this in about 3 hours, but we took a billion photos.

The waterfall itself warrants 5 stars but the hike itself is short, 1.5 stars. For the average hiker this is easy but for everyone else , this is a moderate trail at least. Some stairs, please go up single file and don't hog the entire stairs, please! Did not compete the entire route due to time constraints.

The gorgeous waterfalls and landscape views along this relatively easy hike (after the “stair master” beginning) and right on the Ring Road makes this a “must do” in southern Iceland.

Agree with others that this should be rated as moderate rather than easy. But it is amazing. The crowds are very heavy at the first fall and toward the second, but once you get out further you won't see many people at all. And it is absolutely worth getting to the final overlook of the last falls. That said, you immediately have to climb several hundred stairs, which may already be a bit much for some, and then after a fairly easy walk for awhile, there are a few steep and muddy paths to get up and down. These can be particularly difficult if it's wet out. So, while not "easy", it's definitely worth doing if you're able.

Once you’ve made it to the overlook, the rest is easy. It’s worth walking a mile or so up-river for sure.

Great hike but I’m not sure I’d call it easy. It starts with more than 300 steps to the top of the first waterfall. The next mile and a half is relatively easy and then trail becomes more difficult. That said, the further you get down the trail, the fewer people and this amazingly beautiful hike rewards you with 8 waterfalls. I highly recommend.

Climbing a massive set of stairs to reach the summit of Skogafoss waterfall. Definitely worth it for a great view of the surroundings.

Please take the trail to the end where you find the cairn overlooking the last two waterfalls. Don’t stop short of that point, it’s worth it. We did this hike on a crowded overcast rainy day and it was one of my favorite hikes ever. After the first two waterfalls the crowds thinned dramatically. By the fourth you only saw a handful of folks. By the sixth you pass smiling people heading back. By the eighth you see why they were so happy. I won’t spoil it by describing it. Every waterfall on this hike deserves its own name. Wear boots and in rain prepare to get muddy. You’ll do a little scrambling up rocky muddy trails along the canyon. The people we saw in jeans and Adidas were really unhappy with their gear choices and didn’t make it past the first few falls. It was a top two hike in Iceland for us and we did the Ring Road over two weeks and averaged a day hike a day.

Absolutely gorgeous in the sunlight. Be sure to drink from the stream on the way out (cleanest and most delicious water ever).

Cool waterfall, very crowded. Take the stairs (a lot of them) up for more views. We did another mile down the trail for another 3 waterfalls and amazing shots.

Busy but you can't help but be impressed. Don't just stick to the bottom: climb the steps to the top and continue going up the path to see more falls and terrific views. There were about 100 people at the bottom and along the top path we came across maybe a dozen people.
