The trail begins at the end of Moanalua Valley at Moanalua Valley Park. The trail starts as a road barred by a green gate. The road eventually turns to an unimproved road and later a narrow trail. The trail to the top of the Haiku Stairs (Stairway to Heaven) is also on this trail approximately 2 miles past the trailhead

We did the trail after a rainy day. Most of the crossings were flooded. The last 1/3 part of the trail was very muddy. We returned at the trail end and didn’t make it to the stairs to heaven.

The trail is beautiful but currently about 5 crossings are flooded. The hike is still doable if you’re willing to hike with soaking wet boots. With all the wind, rain and mud we couldn’t safely make it to the stairs on this trip.

Lots of shade and the majority of the trail is maintained with rocks so easy walk. Great for all ages and I would even say for dogs so long as they are leashes. Crossed over multiple bridges and got to see some awesome plant life. We were in a valley so there’s no views of the ocean unless you go passed the end of the trail. We did not but towards the last .25 miles it started gettin super muddy so we turned back. Overall it was a great hike on New Years!

Nice walk, lots of mud. Good for kids and dog. Note that it was 2.8 each way for a total of 5.6 miles.

Nice and easy walk. Bridges, well maintained trail, lots of shade. Bring bug spray.
