A good overall hike, but it’s most worth it to make it to the KST summit. Some views of the valley are visible once you’re about 75% of the way up the ridge. We crossed the KST and came back down Wa’ahila Ridge. Wear pants IMO.

So the 5 stars are as high as my hopes for this hike. Newer to the island and really hoping to find a hiking buddy! Please message me on Instagram: @d_stat so we can adventure together :)

Most definitely not 3.6 miles - watch said 5.2. The flat part was super muddy but when you started to climb it wasn’t bad. Last mile or so is pretty brutal but there are ropes and decent foot holes all along the way. You can definitely tell the trail isn’t maintained. Cool waterfall. Gotta get after it to make it to the top

100% not 3.6 miles as the review states. Garmin & Apple Watch both showed 5 miles round trip and took roughly 5 hours to complete with minor stops. We hiked right after it rained so super muddy, which added a little bit of time. Recommend not doing alone - little narrow and sketchy at the top. Absolutely gorgeous views at the top! Worth it. Also take a look at your all trails map on the way - easy to miss one of the two turns.

Probably might favorite hike while in Oahu with gorgeous views the entire way especially of the valley and at the top. The short mileage feels a lot longer in humid weather, under rain showers, steep muddy hills, and while rope climbing your way through. I do recommend for VERY adventurous hikers and at least 1 person who has experience hiking. I felt safer being with one more person because we were the only ones doing this ridge on a weekday. We lost our original path when we exited from the bamboo section, just remember to follow the creek all the way back. There will be an exit through the other side of the mountain . If you drove at parked on the other side, this will Have to add to your walk. Thankfully we took a lyft there. Highly recommend hiking shoes!

It’s a great hike. I didn’t see anyone once I got off the main trail. Super slippery after rain. I wore crampons and gloves which were crucial to not slipping and possibly dying. Very challenging hike, I agree it’s for experienced hikers who are in good shape. Wear pants/leggings cuz!

Worst slip-n-slide EVER!!! When they say lightly trafficked, they mean it. While in the trees its not bad but when the trail goes into the ferns and low growth areas it is muddy and very slick. Only trail I have considered using cramp-ons. Views are worth it for sure, took me about 3 hrs from start to finish.

Nice hike! I took the wrong path like three times. I adventured off into other beautiful areas though! Once you get to a certain point there are trail markers to help you stay on track!

This was a beautiful hike! The elevation gain is pretty intense but so worth it. At the top, there is a great spot to rest, relax, snack, and take in the views.

Very muddy and fun hike! I recommend who tries this trail first time bring a GPS since it is easy to get lost until you pass Pu’u pia trail and cross a stream and get on a ridge. After that, it is pretty much straight up to the top. The trail becomes overgrown, very muddy, slippery and steep toward the end. It was hard but we didn’t find it dangerous. You will see Mount Olomana in front of you at the top. And that was the only thing we could see because of rain. You may want to get ready for rain if you mind getting soaked. We didn’t pick the best day to hike the trail. But it was great and fun.
