NOTE: Closed from Sep 16, 2019 to Nov 15, 2019. TRAIL SCHEDULE- The hazard rock mitigation fence project has been projected to tentatively start in October. Because of that, the trail closure schedule has been modified. Unless there's a flash flood warning, the trail will remain open until Monday, Sept. 16. At this time, it is anticipated that the trail will be closed weekdays only for up to two months with NO alternating week closed/open trail schedule. Commercial tours are limited to weekdays only. A short hike to the base of Manoa Falls in the Manoa Valley in Honolulu, Oahu, the Manoa Falls Trail winds through a lush Hawaiian tropical rainforest filled with movie scene locations from Jurassic Park and LOST. The trail can be quite muddy, so proper closed toe footwear is recommended. Unfortunately, swimming is not allowed in the pool at the base of the waterfall but the views alone justify this easy hike. This area receives significant rainfall so check the weather before going to avoid flash floods. The trailhead is a short drive from downtown Honolulu and can be accessed at the end of Manoa Road. There is a $5 fee to park. Visitors might also be interested in the nearby Lyon Arboretum and Botanical Garden which preserves endangered Hawaiian plant species.

Bring your rain gear! Rains a ton here so be prepared. Beautiful waterfall at the end of the hike. This hike through the jungle will give you a break from the rest of the world and let you appreciate how beautiful nature is.

Hiked this in flip flops and still made it to the top and back down in one piece. I recommend wearing proper shoes! Bring bug spray... came out with 10+ bug bites as well... trail was short and easy. Not much to see along the way but waterfall was nice!

Maybe it was the time of year I went but it was very muddy and slippery. Would have been fine if I hadn’t had a 3 year old that wanted to walk the whole way

We really liked it! I have a weak ankle and towards the end I slipped a little and hurt my ankle (thankfully not too bad). It is slippery. I saw some people running at times or using flip flops which seems pretty foolish to me. Take your time.

The end of this trail is well worth the trek. Parts of it are slippery and muddy but no big deal. I'd recommend not wearing flip-flops or sandles since it can be so slick
