Getting There

This route can be very muddy and dangerous after it rains.

Bring water; there's none along the way. Tell someone where you're going; you can take this route and not see another soul. Bring someone with you.  There's a lot of shade, but that's no excuse for skipping the hat and sunscreen, especially in dry season.

From H-1, exit at the Pearl City/Waimalu exit. Turn right on Moanalua Road at the end of the ramp. As Moanalua Road ends, turn right on Waimano Home Road. Turn left onto Komo Mai Drive, driving through Pacific Palisades to the end of the road. A locked gate restricts vehicular traffic beyond this po

HikingGreat!

Beautiful day, beautiful trail. Not too much mud until around mile 3. Looks like there was some trail maintenance. The high grass was cut back.

Well maintained. Easy/Moderate hike. It’s hard for some cause it’s long.

Great trail. Even in the rain. It was wet and muddy towards the turnaround but because it was raining. Great views!!

Nature tripsGreat!

The trail is well maintained. The plan was to head down to the waterfall but there were so many hikers and was told the waterfall was crowded. We decided to hike up the ridge. As we near the helipad, the rain poured heavily and decided to turnaround at that point.

HikingMuddy

The first bit (until just past the picnic table) was in good shape considering all the rain from last weekend. After that, the mud was insane. I turned around a little past 4 miles.

Hiking

Starts out as a moderate difficulty. Once you get past the picnic table it starts getting more difficult. I did this during rain showers. Not advised. The mud and puddles on the trail sucked. I should have turned around but I’m hardheaded. I went up without micro spikes but broke down and put them on for the decent. Probably a great hike when it’s dry.

there is a mistake in how the trail is setup. keep going for 200 feet after the end to witness an incredible 360-degree view of the whole valley.
