Lahilahi Point Trail is a 1 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Waianae, Oahu, Hawaii that offers scenic views and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and walking. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
This hike definitely has a more technical part to it, otherwise could be rated easy.
Homeless camp at the bottom of the mountain but everyone was friendly ! Beautiful view from the top
area little shady, but the point is really awesome place to see sunset... this trail doesn't take you up the mini mountain
Fantastic hike with EPIC views! Definitely not for those afraid of heights. Only takes about 30 mins up and can go dip in the ocean at papaoneone beach if not too rough afterwards. Its also VERY hot since you're out on the west side so bring water and sunscreen - and maybe go earlier in the day. You can park right near the entrance of the hike. Then walk a bit through the grassy areas past the signs to the rock face and begin to climb. The natural trail ends up taking you to this intense 15 ft rock face but I wouldn't recommend going on that -- instead backtrack to the left and follow the less trafficked out area then climb up. Once you get past the rock climbing you will be on a ridge that you can follow to the top.
Made this my mission the day I got off the plane. I moved here Aug 1st and this is my back yard! I wanted to see the sunset up on the ledge so I waited for the 2 girls ahead of me to come down (they were already coming down) so I could sit in awe. Super easy climb, just take your time and enjoy!
Dangerous for Kids. But this view is amazing for how far you have to climb. Very easy to get to the top if your comfortable with a bit of climbing. Such an amazing view at the top though. Very worth it and easily accessible off Farrington hwy. Go at sunset! 360 degree view was amazing.
Easy quick climb. There is a bee hive at the top though with some very aggressive bees that chased us around. You will have to climb an 8 foot vertical rock with no footholds which may be difficult for some. Otherwise suitable for all skill levels. Hot and dry. Limited street parking at trail head.
My 13 year old son and I went here for the sunset and it was gorgeous. We underestimated the portion of the trail where you have to scale about 10 ft rocky face, but there were plenty of footholds and handholds and while we were able to do it in our slippers “flip flops” shoes are definitely recommended. Other than that bit of a pulse jumper the rest is easy and the view is amazing. Would definitely go there again now that I know what to expect. Would only recommend taking kids if you have help or they are adventurous enough to brave a bit of rock climbing.
I'm a "beginner hiker" and this was definitely not an easy hike for my daughters and I. It literally was rock climbing at the edge of a mountain! One wrong step and you'll end up at the bottom of the ocean! I could just be over exaggerating but my oldest & youngest daughters- 16 & 12 years old didn't even make it half way because they were too scared. My 2nd oldest- 15yrs. old made it a little further but she ended up stopping as well. It was definitely our first and last hike/ mountain climb on that mountain! On a positive note- the view was definitely beautiful and the sunset was breathtaking. Glad I can say I did it once!
Very easy hike up to the top but please be careful bringing Keiki. If they are roamers and not able to take direction yet this isn’t for them. My experienced 4 year old did very well but I wouldn’t have taken him a year ago. This isn’t for pups either unless they are half mountain goat. Overall really beautiful scenery and a great option on the west side. Ignore my recording. I forgot to pause after we got back in the car. Haha
Really easy to get to and quick to climb up. As others have said you have to do some rock climbing. Pretty steep and the top gets narrow in some areas, so use caution. I would not recommend this for small children, those not comfortable with heights, or climbing up rocks, or those with balance issues. Be safe!
