Probably one of the better hikes on Oahu, although the trail is a dirt road used by four-wheelers. It's a good mix of sunny and shady stretches, with great views along both sides of the island (including all the way to Haleiwa). Based on the map, I thought this trail would be a grueling up and downhill battle, but it's a pleasant, yet challenging terrain. Bring water and maybe some bug spray (there were lots of fruit flies and a few mosquito spots). We did stop and turn-around before the climb up to Peacock Flats.

note: off road vehicle use requires a permit and processing time, mailing, etc and may essentially exclude non Hawaii residents by way of process.
