This is a very relaxing hike. Beautiful Plumerias are in bloom everywhere.

Relaxing trail. Easy trail with different plant life

Hiked this trail in Mid-May. Plumerias were in full bloom and incredibly fragrant. This was a garden with an extensive collection of plant material from around the world. The gravel trail was relatively well maintained. The cacti garden was stunning. The hike was easy, as labeled, and well worth the trip.

Groomed trails but gravelly. Excellent plant collection! Bring water. Gentle hills.

At first you see beautiful Plumaria trees and then the trail all of the sudden changes into cacti! Makes you think you’re in Arizona.

Really pretty! This is the time of the year to visit (April / spring), with everything in full bloom! There is a nice plumeria bush garden immediately when you walk in, that was the highlight of the whole trail. Super easy brisk walk, with a few tiny hills. It is easy to get lost following the different exhibits and all of the plant name placards. The hike was about 2.4 miles looped but if you took the time to look at all of the plants in the middle I’m sure it could be more like 4.5 miles. I showed up at 5:15pm and saw on Apple maps that it closes at 6pm, not true, the sign says it closes at sunset (assumed to be 6:45pm). There is a parking lot right outside, no need to climb any of kokohead on this easy hike (I couldn’t tell before arriving from the reviews) . It was a cool breezy time of day to go and I only ran into 2 other people, I’d recommend.

Pretty easy trail. It's not so much of a loop if you want to see all of the plants.

The botanical garden title is not really deserved except from the Plumeria collection at the beginning of the trail which is not very interesting. Nice walk all the same.

A nice easy stroll. The trail can be hard to discern at times. The trail shows a loop, but there are a lot of offshoots which will make you have to back track. All in all and nice hike for young kiddos.

Easy walk around the gardens, lots to look at. No epic views like most of the hikes, but still pretty none the less. Tons of flora and fauna and mostly labelled for educational purposes

Super easy walk. Signage tells you about the plants. Awesome cactus/aloe section. Takes less than an hour.

A favorite now for botanical garden hikes. It's got the distance, the variety, and the uniqueness of the interior crater.

Awesome trail for a quick workout. Lots of loose rocks so wear shoes with traction. Exactly 1.9 miles around the full loop according to my Apple Watch. Fun to jog around and try to beat your best time.

Educational, beautiful, diverse - one of the best botanical gardens I've seen. And it's free. I visit it every time I am in Honolulu

Nice to see very easy, march 2016. Only issue was the park itself doesn't have a very easy trail to follow with regards to the map. Otherwise it was nice way to spend part of the afternoon.

From the front of some very beautiful plumeria, move on the 2 mile circle through dead trees and dry dead brush, to a palm marked as a pine onto uneven and unsafe large stone walking path with sand to fill the scraps as you stumble and fall. Great trail for the imagination - you can only imagine getting off the trail and leaving. Don't waste your time here.

Nice easy hike with the family. The plumeria grove wasn't in full bloom yet, but I've been told it is amazing when it is.

We really wanted to do the stairs up then go to the right around the crater rim and back up the west side of the rim. Once we got to the end of the right rim, the trail just kind of ends and you gotta kinda bushwack and slide yourself down to the botanical gardens. We looked everywhere for an access point up into the west rim and couldn't find it. We even tried to walk out of the garden to the beginning of the rim but it was all overgrown with no trails. If anyone knows how to get up west rim let us know! Next time we're just going to stage a car at the botanical gardens, go up stairs and go left to figure out the west rim. Such beautiful views. Some bouldering of course, but you can manage to go around the sketchy parts if needed. Windy and hot. Don't bring a dog it gets super tight up there on the rim so watch your step and avoid any rain. Between us two, three liters of water almost didn't cut it.
