The actual trail as marked here on All Trails ends at the arch. There are several trails akin to game trails that lead up to the summit as well as around and east and west of the arch. Kids and dogs on leashes should be fine to the arch; however, I would recommend not using a leash above the arch; a wireless would be better as it is steep although short to the top. Don't wear flip-flops. Fun hike and close to the beach, so hike up, take pics and enjoy the views, then cool off with a quick swim.

Warning! Photos at Koko Arch and going all the way UP is not the same. So don't get confused. 90% of the people go to the Koko Arch to make pictures and turn around, BUT if you are planning to go all the way to the top... it's not an easy task. Don't take kids or aminals. Sure, you might have an advanced climber kid, but most kids will be terrified to go all the way. The hike has steep drop offs. Don't go if you are not an advanced climber and aftaid of heights. Parking: it's best to go on 2 cars. Park 1 car at Koko Crater State Park and another one at Blowhole. THis was you can go up on Koko Arch and climp down on Koko Crater Rails. The tail doesn't have a clear marking, you should know where you are going. 3 stars because people underestimate the difficulty of it. It is an advanced hike. I've attempted it 3 times and only completed it once. Instead of going over the arch, I went via the bushed on the left of the trail, it's an easier path ;) Even after completing it, I still can't go over the arch at this time. Yes, I am afraid of heights. Regardless, I was able to complete it once, but it was nerve-racking. Note: check for wind and rain conditions, it is very dangerous when it's raining or too windy (it's windy all the time, but sometimes it's extra windy)

Very short short climb. Park at the lookout and cross the highway. Should take less than 30 min there and back

Great trail to go on a little adventure and get some cool views. Does involve some minor climbing closer to the top.

Beautiful views. We took our dog and the top was much too steep for him. Steep for me too.

There’s really not much to the trail, it’s short, good view of ocean, but it leaves much desire to be filled as far as awe inspiring hikes.

I see some people wrote this was easy, for me it was NOT. I’ve done some pretty hard hikes and this was one I’m glad I knocked off my list but won’t be doing again. While short and amazing views, it’s very steep I had to go down this sitting and scooting. But I’m also afraid of heights so just don’t look down. Had to climb on all fours going up and also on the way back had to climb down steep rock as we went the wrong way. I’d suggest gloves for this hike.

Short hike to discover a hidden gem of Oahu. Less known than "the stairs" on the other side of the crater, so not crowded with tourists. Beautiful natural setting that is well worth the climb!

a really pretty and scenic trail! the hike it’s self is just walking on rocks up to the arch which it’s pretty cool! it takes around 8minutes to get to the arch and isn’t hard at all with a small incline. the hard part is the arch which you don’t have to go up if you don’t feel comfortable. the view is amazing from all parts of the hike so going on the arch won’t make a difference :) we went with three liabilities ie people that can’t climb/get scared etc. and they managed to go under the arch but not on top of it!

Great views on this short hike. Fairly easy, but the last bit to get on top of the arch is quite steep!

Short but great hike. We went on an extremely windy day (35-40 MPH GUSTS) which made it a bit more adventurous than “moderate” but on a non-windy day I think “moderate” is a correct description. The trail beginning is a bit tricky to find after you park you have to double-back along the road about 500 feet (in the direction of Honolulu), then cross the road.

To hike this trail you must park at the blowhole which is across the road. After you park your vehicle you’ll have to cross the busy highway. You will walk on the inside or outside of the guard rail up the hill to the trail entrance. Entering this trail is hard to find. There are a couple points of entry. All are very steep and close to the road where cars are going very fast by you. As you walk the ridge up to where the peak, you will arrive at flat smooth rock face. You will go up the hill go to the left and you’ll have to go down and then come back up to go to the arch. You need to wear grippy shoes. Shoes with good tread or hiking shoes. For this hike gloves would also be a good thing to wear or bring. Depending on your ability there are parts you may have to turn around and go on your butt to come back down. Pretty much lobster crawl. There are parts that you may have to bear crawl as well. I’d recommend hiking with another person on this hike so they can spot things or you can spot things for them. I do not recommend this hike if it’s been raining or it is wet or if there is a likely chance of rain due to how slick it will be. We only hiked the lower arch. There were people there that’s climbed on top of the arch and went on the upper ridge line.

Takes a little effort to find the trail after getting to the arch but well worth the uphill hike for the view at the top. DON’T climb over the arch unless you have climbing equipment or are an adrenaline junky
