The trail splits, going left you can get to the top of the waterfall, right brings you to the bottom (at least i’m pretty sure that’s how it works). I went up to the top, ridgey once you get out of the woods and then very muddy when you head towards the top of the waterfall.

Okay, so this rating if for the second half of the trail. The trail is super overgrown and my legs got soooo cut up by the branches you have to walk though. If you go, I highly recommend long pants, or tall socks, or both, honestly. The brush is bad. And then, as we went through it, thought at least there would be an awesome view at the top! But the trail just ends at the middle of another trail without a mountain peak lookout or anything... We went on a fairly dry day and the waterfall wasn’t running. But if it was flowing, I think that would be a great ending point and then turn around. It’s not worth going the extra mile after that. The first half of the trail was awesome though!!! I would rate the first half at least 4/5 just because it is a bit dangerous with sheer cliffs on the sides for a good bit of the trail, but gorgeous views! I would do the first half again, but definitely not the second half.

The beginning of the hike is a quick steep ascent with nice views within the first 20-30 minutes. A lot of rope sections on the way up. Once you get off the ridge and start descending is when things get a little sketchy. I’d recommend continuing on until you get to the twin waterfalls (dried up today), and then turning around. The peak of the hike has no clearing, nowhere to rest, and no views. The summit is very anticlimactic and not worth the overgrown brush and scramble to get there. Definitely wear long pants as the ferns are VERY overgrown. There was a massive fallen tree on the route which caused us to go off trail for a bit, and ended up quite literally digging our hands in mud on a 60% grade ascent with no ropes. I drank 2L of water on this. There is also a cool pillbox early on on the route. Ample street parking in a residential area at the trail head.

Really steep, goes up FAST. Lots of loose crumbly rock on the way down, and if you slip a little too far to the right over the shrubs, you are flying over a 200-300 foot cliff straight to the bottom. Other than that, beautiful hike, and was well worth the effort,

Fun trail with a very steep ascent, especially at the beginning. NOT for those with a fear of heights. Narrow trail on the ridge, which can we scary on windy days. Had to scramble quite a bit, especially in areas where the ropes were not. Definitely for the physically fit and experienced hikers. Stunning views at the top!

Great hike, when ropes aren’t available, theres trees to grab hold of. Great views and breeze. Most of the hike is covered, so you don’t need to worry about sunscreen

Fun hike. Parked on Huamalani rd, trailhead is at the end of the street. Be sure to make a left at the first fork if you want to go on the correct route. The route on the right leads down further the valley and follows the river. Gets pretty steep but well worth the views up top.

Good trail with a steep ascent in the beginning, there was no waterfall today, but still a great view.

Parked about .15 mi from the trail head. The hike is challenging but does have great views. My husband and I both wore keens and navigated all areas safely. You must be able to scramble and use ropes for this hike. It is easily marked with pink tags. We stopped at the waterfall, which wasn’t running, and turned around to head back.

Definitely one of the more physically challenging hikes (b/c it’s steep) on the island, but really awesome views nonetheless. I wouldn’t recommend going beyond the waterfall - the portion of the trail between the waterfall and the summit shown on the map is pretty overgrown/unpleasant. The view was still great, but I honestly thought the vantage point earlier in the hike that peeks over to kualoa ranch was the prettiest!

Parking- was easy you just park in the residential area just make sure that you don’t park anywhere that there is a cone. Trail head- was easy to find there is a sign that shows you exactly where the trail head starts. Hike- for the 1st mile or so it’s pretty easy to find the trail then it becomes very steep after you see the rocks with a flag on it. It’s a killer workout because after it is all uphill. You then start to descend and it becomes very muddy and very slippery. There are a couple of times where it looks like the trail was not there anymore but just make sure you follow the pink ribbons and use the rope to guide you. View- this view was one of my favorite views and all the trails that I’ve done. You get a nice view of the beach and the neighborhood and also the mountains. If you have any questions feel free to DM me @thehikingPomeranian or check out my highlights I have pictures about this trail on there!

great hike!! Pleasantly surprised by the views (and let’s be honest you go through pain when it’s worth the view) there were some overgrown parts along the ridge but it is a very well defined trail. It is also muddy at times but there are reliable ropes to carry you up along the way. We did make it to the waterfall and then decided to turn back because of timing, it took 3 hours to go there and back. I wouldn’t say the waterfall is that worth it and if you just wanted a quick and easy ridge hike with a beautiful view into kualoa ranch I would just go along the ridge up till the part you dip back into the woods Parking- we parked along the beach and not into the neighborhood and just walked. It worked out fine.

What a beautiful hike! It was fairly difficult just because of the steep incline, being muddy, and having to use ropes on some parts. It’s also a bit sketchy at times because it has some steep drop offs. But I would say it’s not as sketchy or difficult as some other hikes on the island, such as the Olomana Trail. It was overall doable and I would highly recommend! There’s a part where it looks like you can’t get past because it’s super narrow, steep, and muddy. However, it’s a very small part of the hike and there is a rope to help you get over it. Once you pass that part the trail opens up wider again. At the end, you will reach the top part of a waterfall, which is also cool! Overall amazing views and really beautiful hike!
