Went last Friday, saw workers on the hike and saw a cop when exiting the trail. Just be careful if you go and respect the neighbors property and space! Don’t blast music or leave trash. While leaving there was so much trash overflowing. Just take it with you if you see trash bag full. Someone was kind enough to try to keep it clean and as visitors/people who enjoy the outdoors, we should be mindful of what we bring in. The beginning doesn’t have much shade but is shade or somewhat shade further in. The water is so refreshing!

Someone on a Hawaii Facebook group just posted claiming to have received a citation from a cop after finishing the hike. The citation was for 2nd degree trespassing on Water Company land. Be careful!

We went 3 days ago and there was no cop. There is a cop today turning people away due to Ecoli testing positive in the water.

Pretty crowded on the trail, we probably saw at least 40 people. When we got to the falls, however, we had them to ourselves the full 20 minutes we stayed there. There is a pool and small waterfall combo half way up the trail that a bunch of families were swimming off of and jumping into. The first 3/4 of the trail is incredibly easy. After the pool, the rest of the trail is decently steep. A great reward for not too much effort. I would rate this is as easy/intermediate. There was no cop car either as other people seemed to have issues with.

Only takes about 35 minutes to reach the falls. The trail is mostly gravel and easy to follow. Not a hard hike but the waterfall is so beautiful! One of my favorite waterfall hikes on Oahu.

A little long, and steep, but beautiful! A few great spots to swim.

I read some of the reviews before going to this hike, but there was no cop when we went and there were a bunch of local families there and couples with dogs. There is a locked gate with no trespassing signs, but if you go to the left you can easily bypass the fence. It was pretty hot and by the time we got to the pool we eagerly jumped in! Good thing because it was a hot walk up the hill to the waterfall, probably about 30 min hike. Most of the way is a hard-packed dirt road so very easy compared to other hikes on this island. The falls at the end was beautiful and quite refreshing. We were there a total of 2 hours round trip. Nice relatively easy hike

We parked on the road. Cop car with flashing sign saying it was not a public trail stopped nobody including us. Good size swimming hole with very crisp temperature water. It was super refreshing to jump in. After a swim in the pond we made our hike up the mountain to the water fall. The base of the water fall is ankle deep but you can stand under waterfall for great picture and to cool off. I would recommend wearing shoes/tubbies to leave them on when swimming and going to the water fall. Bring misquote repellant. They will eat you up.

As of 10:15 AM on 6-21-19 there is a flashing sign that says NO TRESPASSING- NOT A PUBLIC HIKING TRAIL and there is a police car parked at the trail head as well. There has always been no trespassing signs, but this is the first I’ve seen this. Super bummed.

Very easy hike. Great if you have friends visiting who want to see a waterfall, but aren’t avid hikers.

Very fun and doable hike! It’s about 3.5miles round trip, and it took us (4 young adults in our 20’s in average shape) 40 min to get to the waterfall, and about 40 min to come back down. It does get a little slippery coming back, but the waterfall is very cool and refreshing!!

I’m not an avid hiker by any means but this was definitely an awesome hike! I would recommend using some good hiking boots or shoes with good grip. Some areas are pretty slick and get pretty sketchy at times. The views and the waterfall at the end are amazing! Well worth the journey!

Beautiful 4 mile (6.3 km) hike; roughly 2 miles in and 2 miles back. Not many different terrains—mostly gravel or dirt trail, mostly uphill forest to falls, easy downhill back to the car. Even with little rain for weeks, the falls were still lush and the pools full and refreshing to swim in. The trail was lush with green forest, some fauna, and a few colorful birds along the way. Saw many dogs and kids hiking too. With very slow trade winds, this hike was hot even in the shade. Might enjoy it even more on a breezy day. Can wear slippers if it is dry, but after a good rain I imagine it would be too slick for slippers and good shoes with traction would be advisable. We plan to revisit this hike again soon, adding the additional 30 minute uphill climb beyond Hamama Falls, to Waihe’e Falls where it is less crowded and absolutely beautiful and untouched.

This trail is nice and is easy to navigate. The second half has some steep places to hike, but the scenery is worth it. The water fall is beautiful and worth the hike. The water hole feels amazing after leaving the water fall.

Go to Waihe’e Falls. There is a nice pool on the second level. Plenty of room. Its 15 minutes away from Hamama.
