Pa ka'oao Trail (White Hill Trail) is a 0.5 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Kula, Maui, Hawaii that offers scenic views and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and walking and is accessible year-round.
Note: The National Park Service recommends confirming trails are open on their website, due to changing weather conditions and COVID-19. https://www.nps.gov/hale/index.htm As of June 2020 (COVID 19 response) The summit area is now open for sunrise viewing and must be reserved on Recreation.gov. Reservations allow access to the Summit District of the park from 3:00am to 7:00am. Please visit https://www.nps.gov/hale/planyourvisit/conditions.html for more information. Starting from the visitors center, you walk around the base of the cone, then up the side through a rocky path that overlooks the Haleakala Valley. The view from the top is surreal. Highly recommend this as a short and good reward for your effort.

Great short hike from back of the parking lot near the visitor center. Awesome views. I was the only one up there at the time so it was very peaceful.
Great trail for those whom are not able to take the Sliding Sands trail and others. Breathtaking view!
