Nice but busy trail. Recommend starting early to avoid the heat and crowds. Enjoy.

I had higher expectations for this hike. It was gorgeous with lots of shady spots to sit and meditate and enjoy the sounds of the outdoors. Super easy. Lots of families.

Not much of a hike. Most interesting in its historical context -- read before going.

Hop the fence at the sign that says not to hop the fence. Be prepared for a muddy and root infested climb. Great views half of the way up and at the top. Worth the effort.

Good for kids, there are other trails along the river which may not be accessible. Adds another 1/2 mile or so.

some nice views and river access if you venture further. Pleasant, but not the most stunning scenery you'll encounter in Hawaii

Go at opening or risk hundreds of tourists. A tour bus drops off a busload. Powerful place. The park area and river are nice if you have the place to yourself. The real hike is beyond the park.

very easy trail. more like a walk through a garden. very nice swimming pools built by locals using rocks to block parts of the streams. go for the swim.

wouldn't really classify this as a trail. more of a nature walk on a paved pathway.

This “secret” trail had quite a few hikers during our walk. Go across the bridge and up to the Needle photo spot and follow the well worn trail behind the sign that says to stay on the path. We had a light rain so parts of the muddy trail were quite slippery. You can go past the point where we turned around, but it was too treacherous to do so with the wet conditions (vertical mud slide). Gorgeous rainforest hike. Waterfalls streamed down the side of the valley and we were walking in the clouds for part of the hike. Ripe guava and little mountain apples were everywhere. Highly recommend!

Paved walkway to a lookout hut..... Overcrowded and not much to see, this one ‘s not for me. Apparently the ‘secret’ trail is worthwhile, but it was too crowded to set a bad example and ignore the signs not to go there.

A must see in Maui! there are more trails if you go down the stairs to the river and you can walk back to swim in some pools. You get to walk a path with that is fragrant of guava and enjoy some beautiful plant life. I did not pass anywhere labeled not to do so and still made it up stream to the swimming hole! Bring a bathing suit! :)
