Not really a trail but still absolutely stunning! Almost all of it is paved so very accessible. $5 entrance fee to get in!

If stairs aren’t your thing, there are about 175 of them (up and down). But the whole trail is otherwise very well-maintained, with adults and kids (I went at 9am) making it populated, but not crowded. The view of the needle is the best part followed by lots of river views.

I have no idea why this is rated moderate. it's a well maintained, paved trail. yes there are steps at the end, but take your time. You can hike off trail to a beautiful creek and have lunch. Absolutely lush and gorgeous.

Extremely easy trail that gives your beautiful views of the valley. Amazing piece of nature. Free parking along the side of the road before the lot and a couple hundred stairs and you are at the top!

I wouldn't make a detour to go there...

Very Jurassic Park. Not really a hike. The advice to go before you go to the airport is good. It will not take you long!

Not sure I would qualify this as a hike. interesting little valley with some interesting history. A good quick stop on your way to/from somewhere. Warning, parking fees in effect unless you can park along the toad. before you enter the site.

Super short and easy paved trail. Drive to the park is scenic. Parking costs $5. Park just outside the gates to save cash. Iao needle is pretty neat and the creek is cool as well. Good for a short little visit.

This is a great option to do before you head to the airport. It’s not very long and views are beautiful. However if you’re looking for a hike, this is not a hike you can do it in 15 minutes and it’s not strenuous at all

A nice quick walk with incredible views before we left for the airport. Actually the drive to the park is very scenic as well.

Part of the trail was washed out. It took a little exploring to find the trail again, but at the tip was beautiful. Forewarned you will get muddy. There is also a way down to the river and the walk back along the river is beautiful. There are numerous places to jump in and see the natural pools.

This is a great little spot. While not a real hike (don’t expect to get your steps in here) it’s certainly a great return on the investment. Being our last day in Maui, and having 6 hours to kill before our flight, the family and I was looking for something quick and easy we could see without destroying our “going home” clothes. This was it. The whole think took less than 30 minutes and the needle was a fantastic site. The whole path is paved and the most strenuous part is the 40 or so stairs to the top lookout site.

A short trail that everyone can enjoy. Good for kids and old people. The youngest (2) and oldest (72) in our party walked the whole way without issues. Great views of the lush, green valley, rushing water and the Iao Needle of course. Path can be muddy or slippery with the moisture from rain and there are steps to navigate, so I would suggest a sturdy shoe or, better yet, a hiking shoe.

Not much of a hike but cool views.

Great place to go on a cloudy day! Not much of a hike, but a great place to walk around and take in the amazing views!

not really "hiking". It's just climbing stairs and walking. It's a good view though. The secret trail is much better and more rewarding.

Love the valley! Pay close attention to the needle as the arch bridge may be hard to see pending weather conditions.

Would love to explore the area for trails but lots of restrictions for safety reasons.

Beautiful scenery but secret trails are an added bonus

Nice views, but the trails I came here for are closed off due to storm damage in 2016. Looks like there are people working there, perhaps to try to fix it, but they gave no estimate of when trails would reopen.

I believe the 'secret' hike they are talking about is the Iao Tableland Trail. One has to hop over the railings at the gazebo point, and follow a feint trail to the back wall of Iao. From there you have a spectacular 360 view of Iao valley and towards Wailuku.

Not much of a hike, just walk way and stairs. The view of the needle and surrounding canyon walls is amazing though, especially later in the day when the sun is going down behind the mountain walls.

Quick crowdy trail. Nice view.

It’s not much of a hike - really just climbing a few flights of stairs to a lookout point of the Needle. However, the land is beautiful. Mark Twain once called it “the Yosemite of the Pacific”.

Short walk to viewpoint. Do the secret trail instead.
