We did this one right after flying in from Oahu. Not too hard. Great scents of wild herbs on the trail. Some nice views of the east side. Parking lot had space for us when we got there.

Best first trail on Kauai ever! Went a number of days before. I later found out that it was rated the as #1 for best trail on Kauai for beginners. It was difficult only that we weren't used to trails being muddy (as we soon learned all Kauai hikes are muddy). A little physically strenuous especially with the little rock climb at the end but it was extremely worth it. Make sure to pass the picnic shelter and keep going for the actual panoramic views! Kept our social distance then, of course, and actually didn't see many people since we went earlier in the morning at about 8 am.

This was our favorite hike so far! Go all the way to the top (the tables & bench are not the top). You will be on hands & knees climbing up boulders, but it is so worth it & my 11yo was able to do it no problem. When you get to the top, there is a narrow trail off to left that takes you to a really cool little cave. Great hike!

Awesome trail. I would personally rate it as more of a hard trail than a moderate one. The view at the end it amazing totally worth the hard work! I would also suggest wearing hiking boots for this one lots of slippery mud!

Nice hike. Grab a walking stick. Someone stuck a dead pig in the trees about 1/3 of the way up?!

I call this the “short but sweet burn”. Made it up in around 25 mins. Mud was gone. Great views at the top. All together finished in around 1.5 hours with sit time.

Fun hike with a fair bit of vertical, and some technical areas (scrambling up cliffs/boulders). DEFINITELY longer than 1.7mi. Our recording showed 2.5mi round trip. We started before the sunrise. Plan on a full hour to reach the top, depending on how fast you hike. We had kids with us, so took a bit longer. When you first reach “the top” area with the benches and overlooks, make sure to continue to the next peak, where the views are almost 360 degrees. You can go one more peak further, and see one more direction - great views into the center of the island, though not more amazing than the ones at the second peak.

Hiked 2.24.20. Great view at picnic table, but also worth continuing to the end of the trail. Trail was well kept and marked.

Super muddy when we went. We did not see the large pile of walking sticks at the start of the hike and this was a big mistake. Take. A. Stick. You will need it otherwise you risk slipping and sliding the trail. Views were nice.
