It was a a very steep but short hike. Being a surfers beach not many ppl stay on the beach. I liked the quiet and seclusion a lot. But wouldn’t go back again. It started raining heavily and you can’t get out of the beach just like that. It’s a steep hike up to go back. So you just have to wait till it passes.

If you are disabled or have injuries this is not an accessible trail. It’s super short but it is a steep descent and can be physically challenging. Especially after a rain. It’s not well-maintained and it’s very slippery and the makeshift stairs can be treacherous going down and perhaps even up. Locals do this hike barefoot but there are palm fronds with thorns that are all over the trail and sea almond pits that make barefoot hiking unpleasant. There are “railings” which are really ropes which you can hang onto. I don’t find that they provide much stability but sort of keep you from sliding down. I descended backwards most of this trail and I definitely would have fallen several times if I hadn’t worn my Chacos. I recommend shoes with lots of traction. Definitely a bit arduous and not the safest. Once at the beach you will find that the surf is quite rough and not suitable for much wading in (at least not in January) but the sand is so, so pillowy and lovely that it (almost) makes it worth it!

This trail has gotten so bad the last few years and the beach gets hammered with big waves. Lots of bugs on the treacherous trail down and this beach gets zero sun. Not a safe place outside of the summer. If you go in the summer and snorkel, PLEASE DO NOT STEP ON THE CORAL, OR WHAT YOU MIGHT THINK IS ROCKS. They are not, they are dead corral trying to regrow and will not if you step on them. If you're not a good swimmer, don't get in and please don't take your kids here. This is not a beginner's route in or snorkel spot. Go to Poipu.

Extremely muddy and slippery, very steep. There are ropes along the hill to help you get up and down, but you will get dirty. Short and totally worth the absolutely stunning, secluded beach!

The short trail is difficult and slippery in the muddy conditions right now, but there are ropes to hold onto and the beach is very worth it.

Beautiful secluded beach. The hike down is steep with ropes but worth it. I made it down in sandals with a few beach bags, but would have been better with shoes.

Beautiful...small...secluded beach right on the other side of the parking lot for the spectacular hotel (which we stayed at on our honeymoon years ago...after getting married on Maui). Wonderful snorkeling!

Really, and I mean really, pretty. The trees and beach at the bottom are gorgeous. This cliff looks daunting but... there are ropes to help. We watched several surfers climb up in bare feet carrying boards, and it really wasn’t as bad as it looked. Might have been a different story if it had been wetter. Worth the effort and the mosquito bites I got.

Short but sweet. This trail is very steep and has a rope for people to hold on to. You will want good shoes and both hands free to hold the rope for the steepest slipperiest parts. The beach reward is worth it if you are physically able to do the rope part and my 14 year old loved the whole adventure.

We did this hike the day after some heavy rains and it was super muddy and fairly treacherous, even with hiking shoes. Some parts were easier going down backwards and using the ropes to repel. Wear plenty of bug spray, I got over 20 bites. Beautiful beach at the end but once was enough for me.

This was a short but steep hike down to the beach. It has a few really beautiful overlooks to look down and catch some sea life, once you make it to the beach it was more difficult to spot the turtles swimming around. We went about 5 days ago at sunrise but didn’t go in as the waves were way too choppy to really enjoy the swim. This is a nice surfing spot and another beautiful beach to check out but I wouldn’t recommend bringing anything down like chairs or a cooler as the trip in and out is steep.

Nice short climb down the bluff to steep sloping sandy beach maybe 20-30 yds long. Few people were swimming right by beach. current looked too much for other than strong swimmers. Ropes and steps carved into hillside assisted the route up and down. Did this trail after hard rain so as with all my hikes on Kauai it was super slick.

Gorgeous, secluded beach well worth heading to. There is a portion of the climb up and down that may be difficult to some people as it has little area to step and is very steep. Absolutely well worth it! Bring your snorkeling gear on this hike!

Incredible beach and getaway. Parking is tough which makes it not too crowded, so if you figure it out then it’s well worth it! Spent 2 hours just hanging out and relaxing, absolutely beautiful! My wife and I walked 2 miles from out Air B&B. Hike was very short and if you do any hike in Kauai and are comfortable then this won’t bother you, we did it in sandals and took 10 min.

This is less of a trail than an interesting route to an amazing secluded beach. Wear good shoes and bring your beach chair and bathing suit. This was our favorite beach experience in Kauai.

HikingGreat!

Steep hike down to the beach, perfect for a nice secluded picnic. We saw very few people. Not the best if you're looking to lay in the sun though, the shoreline was mostly shady and the trees hover out all the way to the ocean's edge in many places.

First part is flat but overgrown. You come out at a really pretty lookout over the ocean before you start the decent down. It's short but very very steep. There are ropes on both sides to help you. If it's muddy at all I'm not sure it would be good to do. You must have some upper body strength to pull yourself back up the hill with the ropes. Wear good sturdy shoes, not sandals. The beach at the bottom is beautiful and secluded with a reef for snorkeling.
