Good workout, hard to find the trailhead IMO. Park at the scenic lookout nearby and go down from there. and bring your swimsuit, maybe a head lamp to go swimming in Queen's Bath

Bird watchingGreat!

Lovely little walk, make sure to stop at the Queens bath. Please be respectful of the trail and Queens bath, it defeats the purpose if you’re screaming at your kids the whole time “JUMP IN ya %*%!$.

Easy one mile to the beach - very first part of trail is rough, but it doesn't last long. If you want to snorkel, go north or right when you get to the beach, it's more protected there. Go left at the beach to see the Bali house, and less than a quarter mile past the big yellow house on the mountain side just off the beach is the fresh water lava tube. Cool cave/ lava tube filled with water, it is marked on the map with Keanalele or something similar. Easy to miss if there's no one there. Great place to spend hours, especially on cloudy or rainy day!

Amazing hike along the ocean. Saw turtles, a hidden water hole from a lava tube and some great black sand beaches.

We did the majority of this hike and it was gorgeous. It’s an out and back and we saw goats in the beginning and the end. The majority of the hike is beach and part of it is scrambling over lava rock so it took longer than expected. Passed some beautiful beach front properties including Paul Mitchell’s home. We saw sea turtles in the water swimming around. I would totally do this hike again.

Fun trail. We were surprised to see some shade on our way down and back to/from the water. Our daughter loved looking for goats and we saw many. Got down to the beach and had a lovely time dipping into the water. Saw a number of turtles swimming around. And some beautiful private homes on the beach. Did not complete full trail - just went to and from the beach and it was great for a toddler’s attention span.

Always an easy favourite, however it was pretty windy today. Not a great day for swimming or snorkeling. At low tide there are many turtles to see.

We went on the beach trail. Saw goats turtles and a manta ray. Wear shoes not sandals. It was really windy when we were there but it’s beautiful.

From the parking lot it’s rocky/sandy so how ever long you walk it seems almost double that. Got cloudy which helped with the heat but water was dark. Recommend hiking when it’s sunny to see the beautiful water.

Very hot on this hike bring extra water! The trail is fairly easy overall. Gentle grade down to the ocean. You will see a few private property signs while hiking but beach access signs also. Just follow the access signs and you will be fine. Stay on the beach and off the house property as you go toward the bay. We saw over 15 turtles today! Snorkeling is a bit tricky due to the water in the bay not being super clear.

This is a hot and uninteresting hike. The beach is beautiful but you can see beautiful beaches all over the Big Island. It’s not worth the hike in my opinion. There isn’t trail once you get to the beach, it’s simply a walk on the beach.

Was a nice easy hike but was somewhat disappointed by this trail for a few reasons. The first one being the lagoon at the end is on private property and you cant get anywhere near it so there was little payoff. The second reason being the terrain changed several times during the whole trip between sand, loose gravel, lava rock, and large rocks. As you approach the end where the lagoon is you have to scramble up some super unstable lava rock right along the water, and the trail is easy to lose sight of in a few places. Saw lots of goat families along the way, was pretty cute but approach slowly to not startle them. My recommendations: - wear sturdy hiking shoes and not flip flops - walk as much as you can on the trail outside of the beach area to have a little more stable terrain - go early! with lots of stops for photos it took me about 3 hours round trip. I started at 0600 when it was 75* and ended around 0900 at 88*, and I ran out of water about a half mile from my car - parking is limited on the side of HI-19 so earlybirds get the best choice, had to just park in some gravel and I was the first one there - there are lots of houses and private property signs along the way so pay attention and stay on the trail otherwise you might end up in someone's yard
