Description
Waypoints (12)

The Mullerthal Trail with more than 112 km is composed by 3 big tracks (Route 1, Route 2, Route 3). You can start Route 2 in Echternach but also in other villages like Berdorf, Scheidgen, Consdorf or Mullerthal. The Mullerthal Trail then leads through Wollefsschlucht (the wolves’ canyon) where wolves could find shelter in former times. You continue along the Aesbaach brook and pass Perekop, a massive rock and then reach Huel Lee (Hohllay). This is a cave which was used in former times to cut out the millstones. The traces of this activity can still be seen on the rocks. After that you reach the amphitheater, which is still used for theatric performances. You then pass the locality of Berdorf known not only for its famous Berdorf cheese but also for its wonderful landscape. The impressive rock formations in the surrounding woods make of this village the ideal starting point for many local hikes.

We did this route in 2 days, walking between 10 am to 5 pm, starting at scheidgen, staying at camping maartbüsh, dinner at berdorf, long lunch at Echternach in the second day, finishing at 5 pm the second day. We had to run a bit at the end to avoid darkness. Route was great!

Great trail, did the full hike a few times since it's not too far away. Signing is great and easy to find. Great for training height deviations

nice hike, spectacular nature. Only streetnoise is a bit pitty..... did the full trail of 36 km, a little bit to much for me. (little experience) took us about 8,5 hour

We began this trail at Berdorf; Hiked the western half of this trail before walking highway 137 back to Berdorf. In total this ended up being 11.5 miles but still shorter than the 32km trail.

deviates off the path sometimes but looks like it was just a gps error, the trail is well signposted anyway :) there is currently a detour around the canyon route just after berdorf, which takes you over the top instead of through the valley. not sure how long this will stay

Amazing hike. Mushrooms litter walkways along streams and rocks that are covered with vibrant greens. Massive boulders. It’s like something out of a child’s book. I went in October as was perfect.

First to Review

Only hiked a part of it as we were taking our time and being lazy vacationers. In July, we went from Mullerthal to Hersberg and stopped by Consdorf along the way. We also walked to see Bildchen. It was a lot of fun! We have no regrets. We were worried about the trail after the flooding but the repair work was very good and we were thankful they had worked so hard. The rocks are fun to walk among and through. It was an excellent adventure. Everything was well marked, the weather was perfect for hiking, and we appreciated the shuttle back to our car. We would like to plan a whole trip around hiking this area one day. Surprisingly, we were never sore from the hike. The trail actually seemed pretty easy to us and we have basically no experience hiking. The only drawback is at the beginning, going out of Mullerthal, you will follow the road for awhile and have noise pollution. Still very much worth it.
