Beautiful journey through the Harz forest from Clausthal to Altenau and back. The path usually runs along the Upper Harz water shelf, at aqueducts and smaller reservoirs. Already in the 16th century mining was carried out in the Harz. With the water from the aqueducts large water wheels were operated, the pumps and means of transport driven underground. Some of the waterways are still in operation today, and the entire building is well signposted. In the meantime, it is one of the UNSECO World Heritage sites in the Upper Harz Water Management. After Altenau you can also take a shortcut on the "Healthy Climate Path", so you do not have to go all the way back. Beautiful surroundings, few slopes, many blackberries, wild strawberries and blueberries. In the middle of the path, a restaurant with beer garden awaits the weary hiker.
