Getting to the trail from the city (Hamburg) an adventure! Buss-train-bus. But the trail didn’t disappoint. It isn’t for the challenge seeker but the serene beauty commune with nature folk will enjoy. Stage 4 is varied with some forests but mostly heather meadows. The only heideschnucken (sheep) I saw were more than half way through the 14 km hike just before the small town of Wilsede. The peak of the hike is a whopping 169 meters but the heath just before and just past the hill is stunning. As far as the eye could see there was heather, and brighter purple than the earlier part of the hike! The end of the hike is Niederhaverbeck, and again the challenge here is transportation back to the city. I finished at 4:15 but didn’t get back to my hotel until almost 8!
