This trail is ideal for a trip by bike. Due to the many adventure stations, be prepared to spend a full day on the tour. Start the tour at the train station in Borken until you reach the old town with the historic town hall. Right next to it is the mining museum with the reconstructed visitors' gallery, which should definitely be visited. The eventful museum takes visitors right into the working world of the miners who mined lignite until 1988 in Borken. After another small incline you come to the nature reserve at Borkener Lake. There you can observe the rare species of birds from an observation stand - remember to bring binoculars. Follow the brown coal cycle path around the lake and make a detour to the natural lake Stockelache. In hot weather, you can take a dip in the cool water or take a well-deserved break on the sandy beach. After we have continued the tour, you come to the theme park of coal and energy, which gives us all there is to know about lignite mining at Borken. Large bucket wheel excavators and impressive machines can be witnessed. In addition, however, the process of generating electrical energy is taught. Opening times and entrance fees can be found under www.braunkohle-bergbaumuseum.de. This ends our exciting tour in the Borken lake landscape and you end up back at the station. Tip: At Singliser See, sailors and surfers will get their money's worth. In addition, there is the Aquagolf Park (www.aquagolf-singliser-see.de).
