This short loop will take you through scenic villages, along canals, past farms, forests and even to a Medieval Slavic fort. Germany's Spreewald is a natural wonderland featuring a network of historic villages, pristine forests and classic farms. A series of canals, bridges and bike paths make it very easy to enjoy a wide variety of activities in a very short time. On this track it is possible to discover more about traditional village customs in Lehde, enjoy a cafe drink canal-side in Lübbenau, take a walk through enchanted forests and even tour a Medieval fort. The Slavic tribe of the Lusizi build a massive fort at the edge of the Spreewald sometime after 850 A.D. Archaeologists excavated here and discovered the ancient "Ring Wall of Raddusch" and today a reconstruction of the fort allows visitors to see an artifacts from one of the first settlers in this area.
