Drive through Finsterau to the last parking lot before coming to the CZ border. From the parking lot you will need to walk down the road a few hundred meters before you will pick up the trailhead to the right. Follow signs to Bučina (Buchenwald). This is the first destination point. Bučina is the first town on the other side of the CZ border. The path leading to it goes through the woods and has one climb that follows along a stream. You will pass through the footpath border from Germany to CZ. After a short distance you will come to a Guesthouse that gives an excellent view of the mountains and offers food and drink. There is also part of the former CZ border control with a guard tower, barbwire and tank defense on display and serves as a reminder of how the area had been before the fall of the Iron Curtain. Returning back to the German border, stay on the main road for a short distance. To the right there will be a trailhead leading to Siebensteinfelsen. This mountain top offers wonderful views of the area and is not difficult to climb. From here the path follows along the former border for a short distance. German border stones can be seen. The trail will go by a lake and descent along a mountain stream. The path will come to a T crossing. Go to the left. This will lead to one last climb and a gravel road that will take you back to the parking lot.

I like history and I like to hike. This trail offers a nice combination of both. The meal at the Guesthouse in Bučina was very good and quite reasonable. I also enjoyed the scenic views on the path back to the parking lot.
