We parked at the wank bahn, walked to the top and took the wank bahn down. Its an easy trail, good views all the way to the top. It was a bit crowded when we were there, so i recommend going a bit early. It was quiet cold at the top, so remember an extra jacket. The restaurant at the top is recommended.
I really enjoyed this hike. It’s upstairs all the time but the beautiful views are all the way to the top. Plenty of benches on the way to rest and also some places to collect fresh water to drink. The views from the top are amazing. There is a restaurant on the top and also one at the beginning of the trial ( I would say after 40 mins hike). Definitely recommended.
Nach langen Regenfällen viel Wasser auf dem Weg. Viel Wasser mitbringen ca. 1,5 Liter pro Person benötigt. Ansonsten ein schöner Weg auf die Wank!
Very nice trail! It’s pretty rocky and has a lot of human-made steps (which I didn’t love and also was quite uncomfortable for the knees :)), it was a hot day and there is shade in approximately the 60% of the trail, so take this into consideration, bring water and sunscreen. I drank 3 liters of water in total (round trip). You can refill at the top! I wouldn’t say this is a hard trail. I think it’s of a medium difficulty, only because it’s quite steep and requires good shape. I’m sure it can be accomplished without hiking sticks or even hiking boots. There were children and seniors in the trail. Incredible views from the top!
Amazing. First real hike outside of the U.S. and it was gorgeous. The trail is in great condition. The views all the way up were incredible. A little busy so go early.
It was a challenging, but very rewarding hike. The views from the top are breathtaking. It took about 2hours to walk from the train station to the top and about the same to walk from the top to the bottom. Started walking at about 11 and was back to the train station by 4:30. There is a lot of hiking to do at the top to see other views. I would definitely recommend this to others!
This trail is a great challenge, and the payout is pretty massive. After a decent distance through the forest, you get to a wide open meadow with great views. Then it goes pretty much straight up from there. Excellent peekaboo views along the way. There are two restaurants at the top, and sweeping 360° views. The whole mountain is covered in a trail system, so you don’t have to do this out and back if you prefer to descend another route. Very worthwhile hike. You should be in decent to good shape to attempt this hike.
This is a fantastic hike with great views right from the start. The first third is really easy, not too steep. From then on, it goes uphill without a break which certainly left me out of breath several times. It is rewarding, however, with a great summit. Suggestion: Go early. This is a popular hike and the summit can get crowded due to the Wankbahn. I started at 7am, was at the summit at 9.30am - I almost was by myself on the way up. But on the way down the trail was already packed with people.
Beautiful and energetic hike in the German Alps. The trail is very clearly marked and easy to follow and (at least in summer) very busy. Halfway through you get the first reward with a view and cows, typical alpine postcard. At the top you have a panoramic view of the Alsp, including the highest peak in Germany, and in a clear day, some Austrian peaks. There is a restaurant at the top where you can have a refreshment or some traditional food. We also took the cable car down since it was getting late (which means you could take it up too). For my poor fitness level this was definitely challenging, but, with breaks and tons of water, manageable.
