Getting There

Munich has a vibrant art scene, a wide selection of performances and a few hidden gems along the way! This art and cultural tour of Munich introduces you to some of the art hot-spots in Munich like the Neue and Altes Pinakothek which have impressive art collections. It also takes you to some of the lesser known places; like a neighborhood with legalized graffiti and an interdisciplinary art exhibit in a subway station. There's no shortage of cultural choices if you would like to take in a music, dance or theatre performance at the Gasteig, Munich's Cultural Center.

Some of the places on this tour will not have signs with directions so you may want to pick up a map from the Munich Tourist Office in Marienplatz as a back up. Munich can be cold in winter so dress appropriately and wear comfortable walking shoes. You may also want to bring an umbrella.

Public transportation is excellent in Munich and all of the stops listed on this tour are easy to get to by train. Your tour starts at the Neue and Alte Pinakothek. You can get there by: Tram No 27 to Pinakotheken Underground (U-Bahn) U2 to Konigsplatz or Theresienstrasse U3 | U6 to Odeonsplatz or Universität U4 | U5 to Odeonsplatz

First to Review

We started at the end of the trail...new construction has replaced the artwork. Don't bother.

Road biking

We stayed in the youth hostel near the zoo, and rode our bikes to the the Alte Pinakothek, with lots of beautiful paintings, e.g. Brueghels, Rembrandts, and Albrect Durers, and even a Leonardo Davinci! Brueghel was impressive with his intricate paintings about scenes from the Bible, e.g. Jonah and the big fish, and Exodus. After riding around, took a nap in the park. Lots to do in Munchen!
