There is a parking place on the B-11 road just before Landshut and across from the Munich Power Company Uppenborn II. At this point there is a bridge to the other side of the Mittlere Isar Canal. This is where the hike begins. The trail follows along the side of the canal and takes you to the tip of the island between the canal and the Isar River. At the tip you can see the city of Landshut in the distance. The trail is very good to walk all the way to the tip, very scenic. The path back follows along the Isar River, then crosses over at Hofham back to the canal path and back to Uppenborn II. At this time of the year, mid June, there are many wild flowers particularly on the canal path. After recent high waters, though, hungry mosqitos wait for fresh blood along the river path. For a longer hike the loop could be extended to go around the Echinger Stausee. This would add 10 kilometers to do the entire lake.
