In the nature reserve of Weltenburger Enge there are numerous hiking possibilities. One of the most scenic is this. Maps are available and the paths are well marked. From Kehlheim take the first bridge across the Danube. On the other side of the river, take path no. 3 "Weltenburger Höhenweg". This is a very nice path through the forest that leads to a lookout point on the Weiser Kreuz, a nice place for a lunch break. Continue on path no. 3 to Weltenburg monastery, which is very picturesque. Just behind the monastery there is a cable ferry that takes you across the river. It costs 1.50 EUR for an adult. On the other side of the river take path no. 1 "Danube route". First it goes up the cliffs and offers a breathtaking view of the Weltenburger monastery and the river valley. Then it leads downhill again to a scenic walk on the north bank of the Danube. Passing Einsiedelei Klösterl on the left, the Liberation Hall is clearly visible. Take your time and enjoy the beautiful views on this hike!
