Amazing trail with a creek you cross several times and amazing views. Make no mistake, this is a difficult trail. Many trails on AllTrails, particularly at US national parks, will say difficult when they aren’t which gave me a false sense of ease. We are four in shape people who have done many hikes. There is a lot of quick altitude gain, often quite vertical (there are ropes set up for this, you do not need a guide as long as you can find the trailhead and don’t accidentally keep going to the waterfall). The downhill can be tricky. Only do this with appropriate footwear (I did it in loafers, because I underestimated it, and that was idiotic. Another guy destroyed his running shoes.) and bring lots of water. The final 25% is exposed. I brought four liters for two of us and I expected. It was not. Would have been better with 6 for us to share.

Extremely difficult . 5 miles total taking about half the day (5-6 hours). Breath taking views but very challenging.

Awesome views at the top and a very fun and adventurous hike! The dirt road to the trailhead from the main road is a rough one. As for the hike, once you cross the creek at the beginning it’s a very strenuous steep climb until you reach a valley and hike along the creek. Then you head back into a forested area and climb a bit more before reaching a clearing and the ridge. I went with my parents (who are in their late 50s but are very fit and active) and they almost wanted to quit part way up - definitely only for experienced hikers in good shape. Worth the work though! Also, the 2.2 mile distance is one-way. It’s 4-4.5 miles round trip depending on where you start and how far up you go.

Great hiking! We went with Valentin, local guide (his phone: 87 25 74 74) who I highly recommend it! Super kind and helpful, with a lot of knowledge about French Polynesia! The hiking was great, adventure with a lot of ropes to climb in and with a lot of local knowledge from Valentin! What a day!! Also, I recommend for safety reasons to go hiking if not raining a day before.

Amazing hike, giving you a tremendous view of Moorea! We arrived at the top just in time before the clouds came in and brought some rain while we were descending. Its not recommended to walk with rain (this wasn’t forecasted) the trail gets super slippery and therefore takes much more time going downhill and is kind of dangerous. Nevertheless the views are amazing and the hike is not that tough! Enjoy

This has been my favorite hike on Mo’orea, though Rotui was also pretty awesome and I would suggest checking it out. The hike took my friends and I five hours round trip but that included an hour break at the top. I would suggest wearing pants for the ferns can that cut up your legs, and I definitely wouldn’t do it when it’s raining. Also, the last section is rather steep but has ropes to help you get to the top. The hike is super cool and highly recommend it to anyone inclined.

What a hike, and what a view!!! The hike starts off with a steep vertical section, then you follow a creek up through the valley (crossing back and forth over the creek a dozen times or so). After a short section through the forest, you reach the sun exposed ridge. Absolutely do not do this in the rain (or if it has been raining), the last portion is challenging enough as is :)

A hike with everything...river crossings, shade through tropical forest sections, sun on exposed ridges, vertical rope sections and amazing views. A challenging hike/climb with an amazing summit. Weather dependent.
